How long will treatment take and does it take longer than normal braces?

Can anyone have lingual orthodontics?

Does it hurt?
Just like normal braces, lingual braces may be uncomfortable for a few days. During this time you may take painkillers to reduce the discomfort and place wax over the bracket to make it smoother for the tongue.

Will it affect my speech?
Most people notice a change in their speech, particularly over the first few weeks. This generally improves after an initial period of adaptation.

Will I be able to clean my teeth as normal?
You do need to spend more time to cleaning your teeth. It is important to maintain a good standard of oral hygiene. You may need to visit the hygienist to have your teeth cleaned professionally every 3-4 months during treatment.
